LaDA promotes green tourism

(July 23, 2019) Lantau Development Alliance (LaDA) has devoted to promoting Lantau with the role of Meetings Incentives Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) and a tourism hub so as to enhance competitiveness together with the advancement of facilities. In the coming year, Mr. Vincent Chua, General Manager DB Operations of Hong Kong Resort and Ms. Linda Choy, Vice President of Public Affairs of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort will continue acting as the LaDA chairman and Vice-chairlady respectively. In order to boost the development of Lantau’s sustainable economy, they will keep on maximizing the opportunities for bridgehead economy and prompting green tourism. 

Regarding the completion of Hongkong-Zhuhai Macau Bridge and the establishment of infrastructures in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, the number of tourists and business visitors participating in events of business and commerce in Hong Kong has increased. Moreover, there has been an increase of conferences and exhibitions organized in Lantau. These have created potential business opportunities for Hong Kong. Hence, LaDA will focus on the following work in the coming year:

  1. To seize the chances and advantages brought by the development of Greater Bay and promote the green tourism. LaDA will thus enhance the communication and foster the collaboration with different institutes of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area.
  2. To provide more employment opportunities locally while promoting the sustainable development in Lantau. LaDA will organise more job fairs in different scales and formats and also coordinating with its members for better recruitment strategies.
  3. To develop Lantau into a smart community for living, work, business, leisure and study, which aims to drive local economic growth, promote natural conservation and community development. LaDA will propose practical advice to the government regarding the research and survey on the influences affecting Lantau’s traffic condition after the opening of Hongkong-Zhuhai Macau Bridge.

In conclusion, LaDA will continue the effort of promoting tripartite collaborations among the Government, the business sector and the community, which grasps the opportunities for further promotion of the Lantau development, contributing to the economy of both Lantau and Hong Kong.
